Gucci presents a new line of designs of the Jackie 1961 with Dakota Johnson

It’s definitely a dream to have a fashion house name a piece after you. Whether it’s a collection that’s titled after you or it’s a specific accessory, there’s a certain manner that immortalizes—a characteristic that remains from the muse.

Looking back on Gucci’s recent activities, there’s no doubt that the past has been a big factor in their designs. Archives have been modernized and signature designs are elevated—it’s an occurrence that Alessandro Michele, Gucci’s former Creative Director, took interest in. Although this time around, an emblematic piece from the House was reimagined with a fellow brunette as its campaign muse.

Reintroducing the Jackie 1961, the hobo handbag that was famously named after Jackie Kennedy after her iconic paparazzi photo with the bag. Though the bag went through several iterations during Tom Ford and Frida Giannini’s respective eras, the current design we have as of now is Alessandro Michele’s modern twist that features a sleek structure and a piston closure.

As they released new line designs, they reached out to another notable personality to be the face of their campaign, and it was none other than Dakota Johnson. She goes about her day with different variations of the Jackie 1961, but if there was one thing that remained in the emblematic piece, it was definitely the undeniable attitude of sophistication that the Jackie 1961 has.

In the fashion film, we get to see Dakota Johnson run through her errands and take pleasure in the simple moments of life. Whether it’s a quick stop at the shop or a relaxing brunch with friends, she effortlessly passed the day with her Jackie clutched by her side. It goes to show that the classic piece will stay timeless and versatile.
