Grey can look like the color of indecision, of rainy Mondays and washed-out uniforms. But New Balance is throwing a month-long celebration for the most overlooked color in the game, and has made it sexy. Grey Days is here, and if you think grey is boring, these drops are about to rewrite your closet’s entire hierarchy.

In the 1980s, New Balance sought to create a superior urban running shoe. It was grey, the anti-color that made the brand the quiet anarchist of the sneaker world. It even rebelled against neon and still won.
“Whether you’re new to the brand or a longtime loyalist, Grey embodies the promise of everything that sets New Balance apart,” says Brian Lynn, Global Vice President of Lifestyle. “The symbolism of Grey has remained central to the brand for decades, and Grey Days 2025 showcases its diverse appeal.”

And so, with Grey Days, it’s clear that grey isn’t just a neutral. New Balance is releasing 21 footwear styles and 11 pieces of apparel, all dipped in slate, ash, smoke, and every grey tone in between. Such pieces are cool, clean, and impossible to mess up—exactly why you might just wear them more than anything else you own.
What’s there to watch out for? First, the return of the 1300JP. Released only once every five years, this classic is made like a collector’s item but built to be worn until the suede softens into legend.
Around it orbit emerging favorites. We have the 1906 Loafer, a sneaker-formal hybrid that somehow makes you look like you command a boardroom and skateboard at the same time. There’s also the ABZORB 2010 and the 471, both pulling from the retro running aesthetic but landing with modern attitude and major comfort.

It may not be a favorite among the over-the-top maximalists. The same goes for those who love pops of color through their shoes. But it’s certainly for those who know that the subtle statements hit harder. If there’s anything this season needs, we argue it’s a little less noise and a lot more grey.
