When the crown touched Emma Mary Tiglao’s head, it wasn’t just gold that gleamed—it was fire. The Philippines claimed a historic back-to-back win at Miss Grand International 2025, with Tiglao following last year’s victor, CJ Opiaza, in a triumph that blazed with beauty, conviction, and couture.

Designer Rian Fernandez — whose creations have long carried the drama of craftsmanship and faith —delivered a gown that looked as if it had been born from the embers of victory itself. Tiglao’s phoenix gown, as Fernandez calls it, was sculpted in molten burnt orange, its every bead and sequin hand-embroidered to mimic flames and feathers mid-flight. The full circular feather cape fanned behind her like wings catching flight, creating a vision of ascension.
“This gown exudes queenly grandeur,” Fernandez said, “crafted to symbolize the regal rebirth of a phoenix returning to triumph.” It was more than metaphor—it was prophecy. As Tiglao glided across the stage, the dress moved with the rhythm of resurrection, embodying both the myth and the modern Filipina who knows how to rise, reign, and reignite.
Tiglao, a seasoned contender and early favorite, powered through the competition with poise and purpose. From clinching the social media-led Country’s Power of the Year award—a first for the Philippines—to acing the final Q&A on combating online scamming and human trafficking, she commanded the stage with intellect and empathy.
