She’s wrapped it all. Ice cream, Beef Wellington, lasagna, pizza, all in that thin golden sheet she’s turned into her signature. But nothing could have prepared us for her next logical step: wrapping herself. At MEGA Ball 2025, Webby-winning food content creator Abi Marquez paid tribute to the wrap that launched a thousand views, with a look inspired by the dish she’s made trending. Designer Happy Andrada and stylist Pam Ricarte unwrap the concept.

“Being known as the Lumpia Queen, we used lumpia wrappers as an inspiration for the outfit we created for her,” Andrada tells MEGA.The layers from the waist down mirrored the folds of lumpia—right down to the creamy, golden hue.”We want it to be layers of lumpia wrappers mixed with draped details. It’s about layers, textures, and movement.”
From head to handbag, the concept held firm—finished off with a takeout box–shaped purse by local label Play Nice.
If anyone was going to dream up this self-referential look, it had to be Marquez and her team. “Abi has literally been in motion, jumping from one kitchen to another, one country to the next, bagging awards and proudly repping the Philippines through her food, especially lumpia, which she’s best known for,” shares stylist Ricarte.
While the designer revealed the vision came from the Marquez camp, when it came to execution, Ricarte knew exactly who to call. “She is one of our trusted collaborators,” Ricarte says, referring to Andrada. “She’s known for being super quirky and original, but more than that, there’s always something special about the way she creates.”
Her viral videos might be the hook, but Abi Marquez has always been the story. In a room that celebrated spectacle and statement, and the movers and shakers across industries, the moment—despite the international accolades and a schedule that rarely stops—felt true to form. At this year’s MEGA Ball, she gave us the full course.
