Similar to packing your vacation fits, prep your skincare and makeup routine with the place’s climate in mind for a seamless and stress-free vacation
Yes, our luggage may always be on the verge of spilling out and will probably be overweight, but a woman will always be ready for her vacation. Expect multiple outfits, at least two pairs of shoes, the complete skincare essentials, and of course, our beloved makeup bag. In traveling to a country that’s a different climate, we always make sure to pack our clothes accordingly, but we often forget that we should also be doing the same with our skincare, makeup, and fragrances.

Hydration is Key
Climate is a big factor to consider when using skincare products. In a dry and cold climate, you may find that your skin feels a bit dry. Similarly, in a tropical climate, you might feel that your skin is a bit too oily. There’s a lot to consider when traveling, and bringing or purchasing additional products to benefit your skin should be one of them.
Less is more in a tropical and humid country, so make sure to pack thin, lightweight products that will still hydrate your skin effectively. It’s perfectly fine as well if your morning and night routine becomes the same so long as you’re maintaining your hydration levels in a humid climate. On the other hand, opt for a heavier and thicker moisturizer that will keep your skin hydrated all day long in the colder and drier climate. With this type of weather, focus on moisture for hydrated and supple skin and a problem-free vacation.
Second Base: Makeup
You may not know this, but your makeup should also adjust—not the way you do your makeup, but the products that you use, especially your base makeup. Compared to colder climates where you can use foundation, it may not be the same when you’re in a hotter climate. Should you be in a tropical environment, switch to a light base like a skin tint or try purchasing a foundation that’s tropical climate-approved. You can even skip the primer if you have a good enough powder and setting spray for a more lightweight makeup look.
Similar to your skincare routine, try pulling back on your usual makeup when you’re in a tropical climate so that your makeup doesn’t melt. When using products such as eyeliner and mascara, you’re better off using a waterproof one for a budge-proof vacation, too. When it comes to colder climates, you can beat the dryness by applying a hydrating mist throughout the day so you feel refreshed and hydrated all day. You may also want to wear a hydrating gloss or lip oil instead of a matte lippie for flake-free lips.
Perfect Your Perfume
If you’re looking for way to become a memorable tourist, make sure your fragrance is at par too. Before you spritz on your signature scent in a cold environment, consider your heavier and warmer fragrances, like a musky perfume for a lasting impression. Scents and notes last longer in cooler temperatures, and by using heavier fragrances, you can create warmth and depth. For drier climates, opt for moisturizing, oil-based perfumes.
On the other hand, our skin releases more of our natural oils in warmer weather, which makes scents evaporate faster. To contrast the heavy humidity and heat, consider alcohol and oil-free fragrances that with light, crisp, and fresh scents so it’s easy on the nose. Apply less spritzes as well so the heat can intensify your fragrance of choice.
