Got Expired Makeup? Donate Them for Mortuary Training

It’s easy to rid your vanity of expired makeup. But before you do, consider this: what if your faded eyeshadows and other half-empty palettes could outlive their shelf life? Instead of throwing them out, you can donate them to mortuary schools for aspiring morticians to master the art of restorative cosmetics. This means your old makeup gets a second life—one with a purpose beyond vanity.

The Heaven Palette

The Pacific Center for Advanced Studies (PCAS) recently dropped a Facebook post that had the internet curious: “The Heaven Palette.” More than a clever campaign name, it’s a call to action, encouraging makeup users to send in their pre-loved products to help students hone their skills.

These donations go directly to PCAS’s cosmetology licensure training, where students practice on silicone dummy heads before working on real faces. This might be why the post took off; it revealed two things people don’t often consider.

makeup donations help aspiring morticians gain professional experience and ensure the departed look their best

First, mortuary cosmetology requires a license and not just mere skill. Like any beauty expert, morticians need to undergo rigorous training, exams, and licensing to perfect their work. And second, old makeup isn’t necessarily useless. While you wouldn’t use old foundation on your face, many products—from powders to pencils—can still be used for practice, making them valuable learning tools instead of immediate landfill waste.

What Can You Donate?

PCAS accepts a wide range of pre-loved makeup. Accepted items include cream foundations, blushes and eyeshadows, pencil or gel liners, loose powders, lip products, and unused or sanitized brushes and sponges.

Are expired makeup products accepted? Yes, but only if they’re still in good condition. This means no unusual textures, off-putting scents, or suspicious changes in formula.

Before laying your old makeup to rest in the trash, why not let it serve one last look? You clear out your vanity, spare your skin from expired and potentially harmful formulas, and give mortuary students the tools to perfect their craft—all in one final, meaningful makeover.

PCAS accepts donations at their branches in Quezon City and Cebu City, in person or via courier. Know more details here.
