One red carpet, two sisters-in-law, and a makeup artist tasked to turn up the glam on both. In Thazzia Falek’s mere second time working with Maine Mendoza-Atayde and Gela Atayde—this time for the ABS-CBN Ball—the creative turned the Atayde in-laws into what she called ‘goddesses’: one in mocha and the other in hot pink. Here, Falek takes MEGA behind their beauty beats for the ball.

Maine’s Mocha Moment

“For Maine, we didn’t really have a peg because she decided to attend the event last minute,” Falek shared.

Despite the decision to attend just the evening prior, Mendoza-Atayde looked every bit the ethereal vision she became. Rich, bronzed tones sculpted her face into goddess territory: soft contours, eyes smoldering in dark brown, and skin that caught the flash with each turn.

This was exactly what she had envisioned. “I just wanted her to glow that night, especially since it was her first time attending the ABS-CBN Ball.”

Who were the beauty culprits? “Everything I used was from Chanel,” Falek revealed. “Because who doesn’t love Chanel?”

Gela’s Golden Hour

As for Gela, Thazzia took the same bronzey goddess approach—but different features called for a different style. This time, in Pat McGrath Labs.

“And because I wanted her to look ethereal, the products I used on her—from base to highlighter to eyeshadow—were all from Pat McGrath,” Falek shared. It made sense, knowing McGrath’s rich pigments and shimmering finishes were the perfect match for the look. “That makeup brand just exudes ‘ethereal goddess.’”

Maine’s look had a bit of a rush behind it. “She decided to go to the ball at the last minute, so her gown was made overnight. But it turned out to be really, really good!” Falek laughed.

With faces that weren’t her usuals, the nerves crept in. “I was kind of nervous because I wanted everything to be perfect,” she confessed. ” But we know better than to expect anything less. Falek has built a reputation for creating AI I-R-L magic in editorials. At the ABS-CBN Ball, she showed us what its red carpet version looks like.
