For their first anniversary, Anne Curtis’ beauty brand blk launched a collection inspired by an era that many of us love oh so much: the 90s. And what better way to kick off blk to the 90s than by throwing a rad launch party?

“I’m a total 90s kid,” beams Anne during the party. “That’s why for our anniversary collection, I wanted to pay tribute to the era. All the colors I was using back then was recreated now with a better formula.”
blk to the 90s is a fun collection that is a mix of the brand’s cult favorites in new shades and new products such as their 2-Way Powder Foundation (P399), Soft Matte Mousse (P349) and 90s Intense Color Liquid Eyeshadow (P299).
“Just wait for throwback photos I’m going to be posting! You’ll see that the colors I used then were recreated in this collection. For example, instead of a shadow, we’re making it more modern by turning it into a liquid eye shadow,” Anne says.
When asked about how she would describe 90s beauty in one word, Anne quickly replies, “Effortless.” She adds that to her, the era was a break from the exaggerated beauty looks of the 80s: “It was never overdone. Mag-lipstick ka lang or konting eye shadow… to me, it was a refreshing change compared to the 80s, where everything was big. In the 90s, everything was more toned down.”
To Anne, effortlessness and simplicity is everything, and we can certainly see this in the direction she wanted blk to go in. “My beauty philosophy may sound cliché, but to me, it’s simple. Just stay happy,” she says with a smile.
