Fashion Week Asia: Reality Cannot Stop a Kelvin Morales Idea

There’s no doubt that the Filipino designer has a remarkable imagination, but it’s his patience for the difficult work of bringing an idea to life that makes him one to watch.

By

If you ask Kelvin Morales to speak on camera, he’ll sheepishly refuse. There’s an endearing bashfulness to the Filipino designer, whose imagination, curiously enough, has no such reservations. He can conceive the most elaborate things and pursue them with the utmost seriousness, even when an idea demands more knowledge than he currently possesses. If he deems the result worth pursuing—and he usually does!—he’ll do whatever it takes, including his homework.

“How many Kelvin does it take to create a Celsius?”

It only takes one line for Morales to introduce himself. As for the rest, he’s determined to simply show. He demonstrated it before with Aura, his womenswear debut, which challenged him to work with color and reconsider his approach to garment construction as he learned to design for women.

He pulls it off every time, and Fashion Week Asia 2026 is no exception. Here, his affection for the arts finds expression in pinstriped and checked textiles, graphic embroidery that resembles sketches, painterly markings, and elaborate fabric manipulation.

It’s easy to admire his finished creations, but what’s truly fascinating is that Morales has the heart to dream extravagantly and the discipline to see those dreams through.
