Thank goodness we already told ourselves that Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez would subvert expectations when they showed sailboat imagery for their LOEWE S/S27 teasers.
The duo’s latest collection for the Spanish house draws on American sportswear, with the familiarity of sporty ’90s prep giving us plenty to recognize before the proportions get peculiar. To be precise, what really stood out were two skirts: a high-waisted midi in what appears to be suede with a large open flap, and a short gathered number literally tied with a string. It gets even stranger after that, yet the bright color palette keeps everything exciting.

It’s these types of practical oddities that put a smile on our faces because of how natural they are in McCollough and Hernandez’s world. We appreciate a collection that can entertain its own eccentricities so comfortably. Practical and cheeky. The longer we look, the more we find ourselves fascinated.
We went into S/S27 curious about what LOEWE was fishing for. Apparently, our affections were a perfectly good catch.
