That scene sparked an online discussion almost immediately. Viewers praised her openness, calling it “refreshingly real” in a space where people often hide their soft spots.
“I’m happy that a lot of people got to relate with me,” she says. “At first, it was so hard for me to show my vulnerable side to people. It really was a strength, and it also changed my life.”
The Pulang Araw actress paused, a small smile breaking through as she recalled strangers approaching her after the show. “It’s nice when people say na ‘ang ganda-ganda mo [you’re so pretty]’,” she adds, “but being approached and told that they appreciate me for who I am, that’s just deeper.”
Her journey inside the house was short, she was among the first to be evicted in the latest season but she carries no bitterness. “Sayang, but maybe that’s what it’s meant to be,” she says. “It was a great experience. It’s a memorable one because it’s an iconic house. And there were so many opportunities in the outside world waiting for me.”
Thirteen years in the industry have taught her to take risks and PBB, she says, was one of the good ones. “Reality shows are something new to me. It’s out of my comfort zone. But again, it’s nice to take risks, and it’s nice to take new adventures in life. Because of PBB, all the great things happened too.”
Ashley speaks about acting with a kind of calm certainty, like someone who has settled into a lifelong calling. “Showbiz is really tiring. But doon ko na-realize na sobrang love ko talaga ito [that’s when I realize that I really love this job], I love being an actor. I want to grow old as an actor.”
Her vision for the future is simple but firm. “I think I just want to be an inspiration to a lot of people. I want to be relatable,” she explains. “And of course, as an actress, I want to be respected. I want people to say, ‘Ay si Ashley Ortega ‘yung nasa show na ‘yan, maganda ‘yan [That’s Ashley Ortega, she was in that show, she’s good].’”
In the end, Ashley’s PBB journey—brief as it was—felt less like a detour and more like a turning point. By letting the world see her beyond the scripts and spotlights, she reminded people that strength can look a lot like honesty. And perhaps that’s exactly why she’s here, quietly proving that being seen for who you truly are is the most lasting kind of recognition.
