Kylie Verzosa may be a familiar face on red carpets from Paris to Manila, but this year’s Cannes Film Festival feels different. “I’m more grounded this time,” she shared. “I know who I am and what is comfortable for me.” Returning to the French Riviera with a calm sense of purpose, the actress and SOLÁ founder wasn’t chasing a headline—she was here to enjoy the moment. No nerves, no noise, all her.

This year’s Cannes came with a surprise twist—an unofficial guideline issued hours before the premiere banning sheer “naked” dresses and over-the-top silhouettes. For some, it was a sartorial scramble. For Verzosa, it was a moment of serendipity. “I actually love the challenge—it pushes you to be more creative and refined with your choices,” she said. “I’m always for self-expression and owning your personal style.”

That sentiment came to life in a custom yellow Mark Bumgarner number. “The dress was inspired by summer mornings in the Philippines,” the entrepreneur shared. “Yellow reminds me of sunlight and my favorite season—summer.” Rooted in nature and heritage, the look also drew from the Philippine national flower, sampaguita. After the cinched bodice’s corsetry detailing, the gown unfurled into a dramatic, layered rosette. Delicate but unwavering, the reference added intimacy and symbolism that made the ensemble feel striking.

Compared to the fast-paced swirl of Fashion Weeks and high-octane brand launches, Cannes offers a different kind of allure. “There’s something cinematic about Cannes—it’s not just fashion, it’s storytelling,” Verzosa said. “As an actress, my appreciation for film and the arts just always applies when I am here.” In the land of auteurs and ateliers, she fits right in, because she knows how to hold her own in a room full of stars and scripts.

While the days are glamorous, the prep work is anything but accidental. “Honestly, it’s good sleep, hydration, and my Aivee ritual,” she revealed. “I’ve been prepping not just my skin but my whole body for this and that is one fashion/beauty trick I’ve sworn by.” Long flights, late-night fittings, and relentless camera flashes don’t stand a chance against a well-rested glow and a trusted beauty team.

Kylie Verzosa’s Cannes is unfolding with the intention of being more present. With more film screenings and perhaps a few unforgettable run-ins still ahead, she’s moving through it all with confidence and an ease.
