From testing products for weeks to committing to quality products, investing in skin care gets expensive quickly, but they’re worth investing in

Let’s be honest: investing in your skin could get expensive. Weeks of trial and error when testing skincare products and testing other products when they don’t work with your skin, it’s a constant cycle of purchasing and waiting, but when you finally find the product that clears your skin, it becomes worth it. Before you try on the newest skincare product, here’s what you should know:

Whether your skin is dry, sensitive, normal, combination, oily, or acne-prone, there are skincare products that will work amazing on your skin type

Knowing Your Skin Type

One of the first things you should consider in investing in skincare products is your skin type. Most of the time, certain products work better with certain skin types. For people with dry skin, moisture and hydration levels should be heavily considered. With sensitive skin, however, your products need to be fragrance and alcohol-free.

Skincare products don’t work for everyone. What worked for your friend might not work for you, especially if you don’t have the same skin type. Knowing your skin type could save you time and money, which makes investing in your skin so much easier.

Researching Ingredients

Now that you know your skin type, it pays well to familiarize yourself with ingredients and what they do to your skin. Niacinamide and Vitamin C for skin brightening; Centella Asiatica and Aloe Vera for calming and reduction of inflammation; Tranexamic acid for fading dark spots and discoloration; Salicylic acid, alpha hydroxy acids, and beta hydroxy acids as exfoliants to remove dead skin cells, and more.

Researching ingredients will give you a better understanding of what you’re applying and how they will affect your skin

Make checking the ingredients list of your skincare products a habit so as not to waste time and money when purchasing new products. Thankfully, there are websites today that can help you identify which ingredients could potentially clog your pores or have harmful ingredients to your skin.

Committing to the Routine

Of course, testing these skincare products requires weeks, even months to fully see how it affects our skin. Don’t give up either when you start to break out! Most time, your skin is still adjusting to the new products, eventually settling down and adapting. However, once you feel like it’s not doing any good on your skin, that’s the time when you drop the product. But the moment you have found your holy grail product, there’s no going back. It becomes a staple in your skincare routine, a must-have in your kit, and it has to be replenished if the product is less than half the bottle now.

Testing out products takes a long time, and it takes commitment to wait for results, but it’s an amazing feeling when the product more than clears your skin

Trying new skincare products is a hit or miss and a scary experience, especially considering how much effort you’ve gone through to make sure your skin is clean and clear. But actually investing and discovering products that work wonders on your skin—one of the sweetest and best feelings on Earth.
